In 1988 Regina Ziliani accepted her first piano student in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She taught piano throughout college and earned her BA in Music and Sociology at Converse College. In 1996 Regina became certified in Kindermusik and enjoyed teaching group music classes for 4 years. She established The Regina Pettit Piano Studio and taught private piano in Spartanburg for 13 years. It was with mixed emotions that she left her successful studio of 47 wonderful, dedicated students in 2002 to move to San Jose, California. But Regina's fiance and she had been making cross-country flights for 3 years and it was time to move closer! After a tearful final recital and a wonderful bridal shower given by her students, Regina left for California. She started a new studio in the San Jose area and met 60 enthusiastic students with lovely families and continued teaching there for 2 years. Regina and her husband Jeff then moved back home to the east coast and into their new home in the Matthews/Mint Hill area of Charlotte. Regina designed a professional teaching studio with separate entrance that is fully equipped with a grand piano, state-of-the-art Yamaha Digital piano, 4 Casio Privia digital pianos, computers, stereo, and many various teaching materials.
Students in the Regina Ziliani Piano Studio are presented with a well-rounded curriculum of music theory, history, ear training, sight-reading, composition, and performance. Regina enjoys customizing an individualized method for each student to fit his/her particular needs. Regina Ziliani is a member of the Charlotte Piano Teachers Forum, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, the National Federation of Music Clubs, Music Teachers National Association, NC Music Teachers Association and Delta Omicron (a national honorary music fraternity.) By attending meetings, reading professional publications, and attending workshops Regina stays current on the latest teaching materials and remains motivated to be an inspiring teacher. Regina's students have actively participated as State, National and International Winners at the National Piano Guild Playing Auditions for the past 10 years. She has also had numerous students awarded the honor of "Best Performer" at the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival. In February 2008 one of her students was named "District Winner" for Charlotte in the NFMC Scholarhsp divison. Several of Mrs. Ziliani's students have gone on to major colleges and universities to pursue music-related careers. Regina Ziliani has studied with wonderful teachers and performers such as Dr. Hao Huang, Dr. Henry Janiec (as a member of the Greater Spartanburg Philharmonic), Lera Borden, Elizabeth Jennings, Dr. George Lucktenburg. Mrs. Ziliani's piano students come from all over the Charlotte, NC area: Matthews, Mint Hill, Ballantyne, Concord, Waxhaw, Pineville and Charlotte.
